Carpenter

The primary purpose of the Carpenter is to provide acceptable trade skills necessary to meet project requirements and completion timeframes. The Carpenter reports to the Foreman.

Classification: Non-exempt

Responsibilities

  • Conduct themselves in alignment with the Downing Core Values
  • Take direction from the Foreman and the jobsite Superintendent
  • Lead crews as determined by the Foreman and jobsite Superintendent
  • Study specification in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine process and materials required
  • Prepare material to specified measurements using hand tools or power tools
  • Install, repair, or finish structures and fixtures such as, but not limited to, windows, frames, flooring, walls, trim, and hardware using hand tools or power tools
  • Build or repair cabinetry, doors, frameworks, or other wooden fixtures using woodworking machinery, carpentry hand tools or power tools
  • Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level
  • Perform minor concrete work
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Perform all work with plan compliance
  • Comply with all work-related deadlines

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One to two years of field experience
  • CPR & First Aid certified
  • Be in good physical condition with ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to actively listen to gain understanding of comments and questions
  • Ability to pay attention to minute details of a project or task
  • Ability to find a solution or deal proactively with work related issues
